Racing Simulator

So I got the idea to build my own simulator… But not just any seat with a wheel. I got a Logitech G25 setup, which is a 900 degree, force feedback, clutch pedaled H pattern shifter! The design of the frame is entirely laid out after the 350Z. Shifter location, pedal spacing, everything…

Here is the beginning of the frame!

Test fitting the seat, wheel, and shifter location to the frame. See the steering wheel??? That’s right! We swapped the Logitech wheel with a Momo suede wheel!

Everything felt good so I took the pieces off and started lining up the last few braces.

Ready to get all welded up!

Hanging the pedals, that’s right… I took the pedal assembly apart and I am hanging the pedals upside down so they are more realistic.

Really cool idea, and very well executed. I have been driving the G25 on ps2 to save gas, stay legal, and reduce wear and cost since it’s release. There is a game called enthusia that doesn’t use the clutch pedal (no ps2 games do) but has a 3 minute long touge course. The game does have a clutch’kick/hold’ button and an ebrake button that gradually applies and releases ( allowing you to press it short times and have light input, or hold to lock) I really think this and the nurburgring nordschleife courses are very good for driver development and concentration.

Also if you haven’t already seen it or played it, there is an online game called liveforspeed and it is fully compatible with the clutch and everything, but you have to set it all up to have it work right. It has component wear and tire wear, I would encourage anyone to buy this wheel and game and practice as much as possible, and maybe even learn a thing or two about car setup, tire pressures, driving maneuvers etc.

If you are up to the challenge Mr. Forsberg, contact me through my website and we will arrange some liveforspeed tandem battles and you can put my digital undefeated record to the test.
