So ever since I have been back from Seattle I have been hard at work on my missile car. I want to get it running ASAP so that I can start driving it! A lot of people have been asking me what a “missile car” is lately so here are some quick facts… Missile cars started in Japan, the idea was to put together a car with the minimum parts to make it drift. Then drive it to no end until it literally looks like it fell off a building. Bounce it off walls, crash it into walls, whatever keeps you driving and keeps you learning how to push harder. Basically… it is a practice car.
I finished up painting the roll cage and buttoning up the interior…
First I started with a little maintenance… the right rear shock was blown so I replaced it with this Ultra Series race shock. It was developed for extreme racing applications and can be found at AutoZone for twenty dollars.
I then started dismounting all these 4 year old tires and replacing them with new Maxxis tires.
Next I started on the angle… Here you can see my super sweet (no sarcasm) Ohlins front shocks. I think they are gonna work good so I plan on running this car with springs and shocks instead of coilovers. We will see how it goes.
I hammered the wheelwell seams flat and then welded them down so that they will not catch the wheel and cut the tire.
I removed the lower control arm and cut off the bumpstop for my new MA Motorsports knuckles. I also ground off the lip so the tie rod end would not catch it and get stuck.
BOOM! Knuckles, TC rods, tie rods…
My old steering wheel… now lives in the 240.
Next I started mounting the intercooler so I can make my piping… I started by cutting out the areas to the sides of the radiator. I cut them extra big so if that if I hit anything it shouldn’t immediately damage the piping.
Test fit…
Finished. As soon as my turbo shows up I can make all the piping!
